What is osteopathy?

How does osteopathy work?

The osteopath makes a careful assessment of joint mobility by touch and observation, together with an examination of the surrounding muscles. The osteopath then attempts to resolve mechanical problems that hinder the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

What does treatment involve?

Treatment involves passive movements and mobilization of joints, as well as soft tissue massage, with the aim of restoring the mobility and function of stiff joints.  The osteopath attempts to look at the body framework as a whole, as sometimes stresses in areas remote from the symptoms are causing the problem.
